Rezonans magnetyczny całego ciała (ang. whole-body magnetic resonance, WBMR) w połączeniu z techniką obrazowania zależną od dyfuzji daje możliwość kompleksowej oceny pacjentów pediatrycznych bez ryzyka związanego z promieniowaniem jonizującym. Jest to szybka i czuła metoda wykrywania i monitorowania zmian wieloogniskowych w całym ciele. W pediatrii jest stosowana zarówno we wskazaniach onkologicznych, jak i nieonkologicznych: w badaniach przesiewowych, diagnostyce nowotworów u pacjentów z zespołami genetycznymi, ocenie rozległości i stopnia zaawansowania choroby, ocenie odpowiedzi na stosowane leczenie, w schorzeniach reumatologicznych i mięśniowo-szkieletowych oraz malformacjach naczyniowych. W ostatnich dwóch dekadach rośnie liczba publikacji opisujących zastosowanie i wartość WBMR. Podczas multidysplinarnych paneli ekspertów (American Asscociation for Cancer Research AACR, Oncology Task Force of the ESPR, Children’s Oncology Group Soft Tissue Sarcoma, European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology) sformułowano przydatne protokoły i kryteria wskazań do wykonania obrazowania całego ciała u dzieci.
Abstract:
Whole-body magnetic resonance (WBMR) imaging combined with the diffusion-weighted imaging technique offers the possibility of a comprehensive assessment of pediatric patients without the risk of ionizing radiation. It is a quick and sensitive method of detecting and monitoring multifocal lesions throughout the body. In pediatrics, it is used in both oncological and non-oncological indications, such as screening in patients with genetic syndromes, assessment of the extent and stage of the disease, treatment effect monitoring, evaluation of rheumatological and musculoskeletal diseases and in vascular malformations assessment. In the last two decades the number of publications describing the use and value of WBMR imaging has been increasing. Multidisciplinary panels of experts (American Association for Cancer Research AACR, Oncology Task Force of the ESPR, Children’s Oncology Group Soft Tissue Sarcoma, European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology) formulated useful protocols and indication criteria for performing whole-body imaging in children.
